This recipe will send you right back to your childhood! Assuming you grew up around the same time as me, loving Hamburger Helper night. I know, I know… it’s SO processed and high in sodium but WHATEVER. It’s delicious. There are a few from-the-box meals that I wish I could have but instead, have had to come up with easy variations. The fun part about it is that it’s much healthier to make it from scratch and it honestly doesn’t take anymore time. This will be one of your favorite weeknight staple recipes!
Obviously, Hamburger Helper is a big no-no in the dairy free and gluten free world, so I recreated it and it tastes even BETTER than the real deal. So creamy, so cheesy, and so hamburger-y! Even those unaffected by food allergies and food sensitivities will love this dish, so you can forget about cooking separate meals for yourself and your family.
I always aim to make my recipes so good, someone who can eat all the gluten and all the dairy would love the meal as well. My favorite way to test if a recipe is ready to go is by “tricking” my husband. I tell him I made myself a gluten and dairy free version but his uses dairy and gluten, where it’s needed. Luckily, he’s very honest with me about these meals because I made it clear early on that unless he is, I can’t improve upon these recipes. If he eats a dish and doesn’t notice a difference, we are good to go.
